Why Face Painting in my Church?

Your calendar is full, funds are short, the volunteers you do have are overextended... why would you want to add another time consuming, budget stretching, worker taxing ministry? Here are some reasons:

Evangelism can thrive.

Some of the best face painters are not even artists. They have a love for the Word and a passion to reach souls for Christ. By its very nature, a face painting ministry is outreach oriented and gives Christians the structure and plan to do what they’ve always wanted to do... proclaim Christ as Lord and Savior. Non-artists are also needed in the face painting kiosk to connect with kids and their parents and share the love of God with them. We can help those with a love for evangelism direct that passion.

Teens can be incorporated into the congregation.

It is heartbreaking to watch a child grow up in the church only to leave the faith when he graduates from high school. Up to 70% stop attending within 2 years of high school graduation. This is a complex problem requiring a multi-faced solution. A face painting ministry can be part of the solution. Instead of isolating teens from the congregation in teen-only groups and ministries, teens as young as 13 years old are co-mingled with adults in a multi-generational ministry. Then upon graduation, a teen still has a place in the church and the respect of other adults in the face painting ministry. It is easier to fold teens into the life of your church when they have a place to serve.

People who have no connection to your church can be reached.

Most good, solid churches are not reaching many unsaved souls. This is in spite of the fact that the people of the church have overcome most life-controlling issues, know the Word and live lives that please God. Here’s the problem: most Christians who have been saved for more than 2 years, stop reaching souls for Christ. This is because they have already witnessed to their family, friends and co-workers. Those who did not respond, don’t want to hear it from them anymore. What these fine folks need is an opportunity to meet people. A face-painting-for-outreach kiosk at a community event is the perfect opportunity. We can help your people reach souls who have no connection to your church.

Under-utilized artists can use their gift.

Very likely, your church has artists who have had some level of training in painting with oils or water colors. The talent that once gave them joy, is now lying dormant. The artist may even feel unneeded and un-useful. A face painting ministry can provide these gifted artists with a meaningful place to serve. When disciples are poured out in service, they become more hungry for the Word. We can help your artists have a significant place in your church.

It’s easy and relatively inexpensive. Being fairly easy to do and relatively cheap, a face painting ministry can be effective nearly anywhere in any size church. This is a strategy that flourishes in areas where there are community events planned by the local city government or Chamber of Commerce... you don’t have to spend any money to draw a crowd.
