You Need a Church
What Is the Church? Understanding the nature of the Church begins with understanding what the word “church” means. Before it was used to describe the gathering of God's people, it was a very ordinary word that meant "an assembly called for a purpose". It could have been a social event such as a wedding or a sporting event. The New Testament teaches that “church” refers both to the local church as well as the universal church.
Local Church: A physical and local gathering of believers connected together doctrinally, spiritually and relationally.
Universal Church: All believers in every age and out of every nation, including those already in heaven, those still serving God on earth and those yet to be saved.
The Church Is Not a Building
It is not a denomination or an organization. It is people! Again, it is "an assembly called for a purpose." That purpose is to gather for worship, prayer and the building up of His people... people just like you, whose lives have been turned around... people who love and want to be loved. Men, women and children who have become the people of God, thus we relate to each other as brothers and sisters. It is essential that we gather regularly so that we have opportunity to benefit from and add to each other's spiritual walk.
